ELA 7, Part 1

This course is designed to deepen students’ appreciation of literature and enhance their reading and writing abilities. Students will:

  • Identify major themes across literary texts

  • Analyze poetic techniques and literary elements

  • Explore and compare multiple genres

  • Read and interpret selected works by Shakespeare

  • Practice public speaking through poetry recitation

  • Compose a well-supported research paper

  • Apply literary strategies to analyze a novel

  • Enrich their vocabulary through targeted mastery strategies

This is the first course in a two-part series for English Language Arts 7.

Course Objective

The objective of English Language Arts 7 – Part 1 is to develop students’ analytical thinking, literary interpretation, and effective communication skills. Through the study of poetry, fiction, drama, and nonfiction, students will learn to identify central themes, evaluate literary techniques, and compare genres. In addition, they will build research skills, strengthen vocabulary through word-mastery strategies, and apply both reading and writing strategies to a full-length novel. This course also emphasizes oral presentation through poetry recitation and nurtures students’ ability to express their ideas with clarity and confidence—skills essential for academic success and lifelong learning.
